An “unusual” solution
Anyone who takes care of and manages a vineyard knows very well how to roes are among the main enemies to face. In the Cinque Terre National Park they are thinking of solving the problem with a rather unusual solution which until now had been talked about very little. In recent days, in fact, two meetings were organized to explain to farmers how to use a repellent of natural origin. What is it about exactly?
Product efficacy
The park's Biodiversity Office has thought of a plant protection product that deters roe deer from both a sense of smell and taste point of view. The repellent is based on sheep fat, with a water-based oil composition. Its effectiveness has already been tested in this area, consequently concrete results are expected at this time of year.
Browsing of plants
In fact, it is precisely in spring that the roe deer begin to graze on the vine plants. This habit, particularly in the Cinque Terre Park, has not been stopped even by electric and metal fences, while optimism reigns over the spray. Before making any judgments, however, it is necessary to record concrete results.
