Siena: Arci Caccia on the controversy for fox hunting in the ZRC, instrumental and unfounded controversy, "politics govern the entire community and do not lead factions".
The act by which the Province of Siena authorized the control (and not hunting) of the fox in the wildlife institutes of its territory is not only correct but also necessary. Correct because the control of fauna exceeding certain levels, which can cause damage to the environment, ecological balance or agriculture is a practice envisaged by national and regional legislation. This type of intervention is subject to the issue of an opinion by the ISPRA (Higher Institute for Scientific Research) which defines applicable limits and methods, as occurred in the specific case.
Necessary because it has the purpose of keeping the densities of generic predators such as foxes within certain levels which, otherwise, would risk affecting the natural populations of pheasant, hare and other species, even if not huntable. This activity is therefore essential to allow the survival of natural populations of species of high environmental value and typical of our territories such as hare and pheasant which, it should be remembered, continue to populate our countryside only thanks to an extensive network of wildlife institutes, such as the Restocking and Capture Areas, in which there are still more than appreciable densities of these species.
Moreover, the control of the fox is limited only to the areas where no breeding subjects enter, on the basis of accurate numerical censuses, as the spirit of this act is not linked only to the hunting activity but to the maintenance of a sufficient degree of biodiversity. .
So the controversy over this aspect is absolutely out of place; if anything, certain positions taken by political forces that try to chase animal rights extremism leave us stunned. From politics instead we would expect balance and respect for all citizens, taking into account that the function of a politician would be to govern a community, making a synthesis of its various souls, and not lead or simply support a faction. To aggravate the whole there is the absolute ignorance of the subject in question that pushes towards statements devoid of reasoning.
Fortunately, as we write, we learn that Spinelli and Sani, of the Tuscan PD, have made it clear that certain positions are taken on a personal basis. Which encourages us, hoping that at least from now on we avoid this type of personal positions.
