The event, a real milestone on the path towards the inclusion of clay pigeon shooting in the program of Paralympic Games of 2024, celebrates ten years since the start of the Paralympic project, carried out by the FITAV (Italian Shooting Federation), in particular by the vice president Emanuela Croce Bonomi, on a mandate from the IPC, the International Paralympic Committee, and the International Federation of Shooting Sports (ISSF). More than 100 athletes from 16 nations will participate in the competition, sponsored by the Municipality of Lonato, the Province of Brescia and the Lombardy Region. Participants will be divided into three categories.
The first, “sitting”, will include seated athletes. The second, "standing h5" those who shoot standing with impediments to the lower limbs. The third, "standing h6", those who shoot standing with impairments in the upper limbs. In conjunction with the para-trap world cup, the 7th international grand prix of Paralympic skeet shooting, also open to those who have not been called up by their respective national teams. The volunteers of the UNITALSI association will help the athletes and the organizing committee in their travels and assistance. The non-profit organization, founded in 1903 by Giovanni Battista Tommasi, deals with pilgrimages, home assistance, the organization of summer and winter stays and everything else necessary to overcome all forms of marginalization and discrimination towards those who are sick and disabled.
The press conference to present the event will take place on Tuesday 12 September, at 10.30, in the Sant'Agostino room of Palazzo Broletto, in Brescia. Representatives of the Organizing Committee, of the Italian Federation and a delegation of Italian athletes will participate. On the evening of the same day, at 20.30 pm, in Piazza Martiri della Libertà in Lonato, after an intervention by the local authorities and other guests, there will be a performance of Paralympic dance and a fireworks display with the fire of the Civic Tower. Wednesday 13th September will be dedicated to practice shooting and the registration and classification of athletes. On Thursday 14 September, starting at 17.30 pm, the sporting event will begin with the opening ceremony and the presentation of the teams at the Concaverde shooting range. The qualifying matches and the finals will be held on Friday 15 and Saturday 16 September, which will then be broadcast on RAISPORT, with subsequent awards for the winners.
Finally, thanks go to the three main sponsors of this event, Beretta, Flakes e Camozzi, which in many ways and for several years have supported projects related to the world of disabilities.
