The former regional councilor of Abruzzo, Dino Pepe, has criticized the hunting calendar relating to the 2019-2020 season. The Region replied and defended the text through the vice-governor, Emanuele Imprudente. Here are his words: “In the last year, we have registered a real rain of appeals by environmental associations on hunting calendars, in most of the Italian regions, among others Tuscany, Marche, Calabria and Puglia. The objective of these appeals is to block the opening of the hunting season, or at least to reduce it as much as possible temporal and territorial spaces. It also happens in Abruzzo: those who obstruct and feed the conflict and confusion do harm to the territory.
Abruzzo, like the other regions of Italy, does not try to overcome the legislative dictate as someone has declared to the press in these days. The hunting world, for its part, is defined as disconcerted by the fact that in the neighboring regions, with the same national laws and older hunting planning tools, pre-openings and roaming hunting in September or January are possible. The Abruzzo Region, for 2019-20, has adopted a hunting calendar absolutely in line with that of the neighboring regions, but despite this we have been the subject of appeals and conflicts. These days he is waiting to know, with great respect, the decision that the TAR will take on the calendar in order to make the choices that will allow us to start the hunt, without uncertainty, starting from next October XNUMXnd.
We know that Ispra and the Via committee are advisory bodies which, as happens every year, formulate normal guidelines and prescriptions on the calendar. Part of the Abruzzo territory is fully protected and represents a great resource for everyone, to be kept carefully. I do not perceive the hunting activity in contrast with the protection requests, indeed over time the hunting world has proved sensitive and attentive towards them. In Abruzzo, thanks to the constructive relationship that has been established with the Parks, the Universities and the hunting world Protocols of understanding have been adopted to protect bears also in areas outside the protected areas and experimentation of hunting techniques with dogs that do not disturb the bear is about to be started.
Great effort is also being put into the completion of the new wildlife hunting plan and has already been requested scheduling in pending commission, in a few days, of the further work of Ispra. Also on this indispensable instrument it is necessary to reconcile, in the best way, the different positions, considering that it is not useful for anyone to delay its adoption ”.
