Winter Championship in Bologna
On the occasion of the Winter Championship, which started today in Bologna and will continue until Sunday with the participation of almost 200 male and female shooters from all categories, theItalian Shooting Union wanted to give a strong sign of adhesion to the awareness campaign against violence against women proposed by the Ministry for Equal Opportunities and the Ministry for Sport and Youth. The great shock that the dramatic end of the young Giulia Cecchettin aroused throughout the country has left a profound mark.
A very delicate topic
No one can think they have tools to solve this problem, but everyone must do their part and it is this awareness that has pushed the UITS to propose such a delicate topic within its reference community, among the athletes and technicians, the members and the enthusiasts, the TSN sections and their patrons. It is a cultural battle against deteriorating phenomena and behaviors, difficult to eradicate but impossible to ignore. In the last year, over 100 feminicides have been committed in Italy, a disturbing fact that requires awareness to create full awareness of the problem in all its gravity.
A small floral tribute
On the occasion of the Bolognese event, before each competition session and at the beginning of the award ceremonies a message dedicated to women is read, inviting anyone who may have been the subject of violence, mistreatment or stalking to call the number 1522, where specialized operators can be reached They are always ready to give help and support 24 hours a day. The message is loud and clear: 24, YOU ARE NOT ALONE! Also on the occasion of the Bolognese event, the Italian Shooting Union wanted to dedicate to all the participants a small floral tribute delivered at the shooting station, before the competition, and then during the awards ceremony. A flower is certainly not enough to believe that tomorrow will be better, but it is the sign of a civil commitment not to forget, committing ourselves all with greater altruism and sensitivity (source: UITS).
