La Hunting Federation municipal and the Tuscan section ofNational Free Hunting Association have dismissed all charges regarding the culls of Hermit Ibis in the province of Livorno. The document released by Waldrappteam, the European project that deals with the reintroduction of this species, a specimen was killed in 2011, another in 2014 and finally another last year.
The hunters are not there and do not want to be involved, however ensuring the maximum collaboration in the project. Furthermore, the local hunting world has specified that the killing did not occur on the Promontory. The Livornese is one of the areas at greatest risk as regards the poaching of Ibis in Italy. The community project called for a series of urgent measures to ensure the safety of birds during their migration, avoiding other damage from an environmental point of view.
Federcaccia explained how there are no records of specimens killed in the promontory, brandishing the declarations of the environmentalist world as exploitation. Libera Caccia confirmed these sentences, as well as the presence of precious witnesses, the agents in charge of controlling the area. The only confirmed episode dates back to 2012, when a man with a hunting license he was fined and punished. The population amounts to 90 Ibises and even a few kills risk jeopardizing such an important project.
