La Italian Federation of Hunting commented on the document received by the Italian regions and signed by Italian Bird Protection League (LIPU). The text asks for the suspension of the hunting activity for seven species defined by the association in difficulty and that they would experience a worrying decline globally. For this reason, the Government, Parliament and Regions are asked to intervene urgently by excluding lark, rock partridge, wild dove, pochard, redwing, lapwing, ptarmigan from the list of huntable species.
Federcaccia thus turned to the competent Departments underlining, beyond the pretext of the request, how the technical-scientific arguments advanced by the same in support of its position are not taken for granted and unassailable and in this regard has sent the counter-arguments prepared by its technical offices based on the current situation of the species in question, recognized by the most recent national and international scientific publications.
One cannot help but notice that LIPU's request for attention regarding species in difficulty has been at least not very linear in the last few years, since there have been campaigns having as their object, variously, nineteen, six, one, five and now seven different species. The fact that these campaigns always refer to a request for affiliation with this association and for fundraising for its activities, is perhaps not the best way to think about a serene, secular and objective approach the problems reported by the LIPU.
