Elio Battorti, provincial coordinator ofArci Caccia of Belluno and Giuliano Ezzelini Storti, regional president of Arci Caccia Veneto, they deepened the question of hunting in Belluno and autonomy. As stated in the joint press release, the general opening of hunting is approaching and it seems appropriate to say something about the managerial autonomy of Belluno, in the face of latest legislative changes made by the Veneto Region. “To clarify, to say at what point we are out of the legitimate clashes of party politics. For some years the ARCI Caccia del Veneto, in collaboration with the Provincial of Belluno, the National and in synergy with the local policy, has been fighting for the recognition of Belluno's management autonomy in hunting matters.
Even when other national, provincial and regional associations didn't even want to hear about it either they pretended that the "case" was a losing battle. For this reason, together with the hunting world of Belluno, we have become spokespersons for the requests to maintain hunting management in the Province, as it was done up to now, in the Veneto Region: when no one in Venice thought it appropriate to decentralize, despite the fact that the Statute of Veneto recognizes greater autonomy for the Province of Belluno. After this first action, the political majority in the Veneto Region moved, guaranteeing, reassuring also the media that the concerns were excessive and that something would be done: the first year an agenda approved by the Council arrived.
In all the meetings held in the Region until yesterday, the ARCI Caccia del Veneto, as written in the Minutes and reports, continued the battle reaffirming to follow up on the agenda approved by the Board. This year the Region has made some changes to the legislation on hunting management, for the Province of Belluno: our merit? No, but certainly with our constant and continuous contribution. Do we consider what was approved by the Regional Council sufficient? No. But we consider it a step forward, if we look at where we started from. So we can say that we are on the right path, we express satisfaction with what has been approved, but we must have more courage and try to do more.
The “provincial hunting federalism” of Veneto over the years has been a management heritage, it would be a pity to waste management skills, resources and qualities. How will we continue our battle? The Regional Council has started the process for the approval of the new Regional Wildlife Plan: we will continue our initiative there to enhance the managerial autonomy of Belluno in terms of hunting, we can do it! How long are they going to go on? How many will want to do this battle? This is the real challenge with the future. Could Belluno infect the rest of Veneto? We want to try ”.
