It was organized a Faenza for tomorrow, Monday 11 January 2016, the meeting of the local representatives of the Democratic Party with hunters, hunting associations and agricultural professional organizations. The title of the debate will be "Environmental connection: new provisions for hunting from a fixed position, for the containment of the spread of wild boar and for the starling hunt". The appointment was set for 20:30 at the Circolo I Fiori in the Emilian municipality.
Speaking will be Senator Stefano Vaccari, secretary of the thirteenth Permanent Commission (territory, environment, environmental assets) of the Senate, and Manuela Rontini, regional councilor of Emilia Romagna and president of the III Commission (territory, environment and mobility). That of starlings, in particular, is a very heartfelt topic in Faenza. Last October, in fact, the resolution of the same councilor Rontini was approved by the Emilian regional assembly to intervene with the Government and insert the starling among the huntable species.
Based on the data provided by Coldiretti Emilia Romagna, in 2014 these birds caused more than 200 thousand euros in damage, making them the most dangerous wild animals for agriculture after wild boars (227 thousand euros) and alone accounting for about 15% of damaged crops. Furthermore, starlings usually affect higher quality and high value-added crops, such as fruit. The problem of starling hunting has to do with a European Union directive. According to this law, the bird is one of the endangered species in various areas of the old continent, including Italy.
Same Coldiretti however, he repeated several times that the transfer is not at risk in our country, indeed the latest data have confirmed its constant and threatening growth for biodiversity. Starlings can return to be part of the huntable species in Italy only after having submitted a reasoned request to the EU. Tomorrow's debate can therefore be an important opportunity to investigate the issue and its most recent developments. The title of the meeting refers to the so-called "Environmental Link".
In December he was voted favorably by the Chamber of Deputies after a parliamentary journey that began two years ago. The link consists of 79 articles, dedicated to the various measures to be taken with regard to the environment, energy, animals, land maintenance, the use of bicycles and renewable energy. Obviously there is no shortage of provisions relating to hunting and tomorrow evening the novelties planned for the hunting exercise will be addressed.
