The president of the Autonomous Province of Trento, Maurizio Fugatti, signed an order for the urgent placement of metal anti-bear bells as part of the collection of the organic fraction of urban solid waste in Municipalities of Cavedago, Fai della Paganella, Andalo and Molveno. The provision provides that the Special Agency for Environmental Hygiene-Asia will replace the all bins for the 120-liter organic with the large metal bells with over 3000 liters of capacity, resulting much more efficient in terms of anti-bear raids.
An action that falls within the scope of its replacement program already in place in the territories of competence. The ordinance takes into consideration the fact that between May and June 2021 several problematic episodes of frequentation of inhabited centers by bears attracted to the place by the availability of waste, to be attributed in particular, but not exclusively, to the bear specimen M62.
It is also considered that it is probable that in the territory in question there will be further forthcoming incursions of bears to the bins of the waste placed in built-up areas and that in the summer the municipalities of Cavedago, Andalo, Molveno and Fai della Paganella encounter a massive tourist presence, overnight or during the day, and that this poses many objective difficulties in keeping waste out of the reach of bears (Source: Autonomous Province of Trento).
