Natural Reserve of the Pantani: The Tar Catania with final ruling cancels the decree establishing the Reserve, supporting in the motivations the international approach for the management and conservation of wetlands or the involvement of local populations and the sustainable use of resources.
On 19 May 2015, the sentence of the Catania TAR was finally issued, accepting the ruling of the Constitutional Court on the case of the Pantani Reserve in South Eastern Sicily. Following the appeal of the IGP Pachino, the TAR had requested an opinion from the Constitutional Court on the legitimacy of the Sicilian law on parks and natural reserves, in which the supreme court had established that the law in question is unconstitutional in various parts. As expected, the TAR therefore accepted the initial appeal by ordering the cancellation of the 2010 Decree which had established the Reserve without the necessary involvement of local Bodies and Associations.
A new phase therefore opens up for the communities of the territory in question, in particular farmers, hunters and fishermen, to maintain and carry out a balanced exercise of their activities. The reasons for accepting the appeal support the international approach for the management and conservation of wetlands, ie the involvement of local populations and the sustainable use of resources.
The Federcaccia Bird Migration Office together with the SOS Pantani Association will promote an integrated management project for the entire Natura 2000 area "Pantani della Sicilia South-Eastern" where the protection and conservation of avifauna and natural environments coexist with hunting activities. , fisheries and agriculture compatible with conservation needs. The Avifauna Migratoria Office publicly thanks the lawyer Giuseppe Gambuzza for the success achieved thanks to his legal intuition. We will periodically update the developments of this affair.
