The reports from the territory do not stop and the breeders are put to the test every day by impactful presence of this large carnivore. Along the Apennine ridge and on the Alps predation is a merciless bulletin. Those who continue to say that the wolf is an endangered species, and therefore untouchable, does not reckon with the most recent estimates that see the preswolves calculated conservatively in over 2000 specimens: an increase of 20% in the last 5 years. Not to mention the unspecified number of hybrid specimens born from the union between wolves and wild dogs, even more dangerous because they are less afraid of man.
We believe that the problem must be addressed as soon as possible, conceding on the one hand to the shepherds the ability to defend against predation, as happens for example in France, and on the other by adopting a management plan calibrated on the real bearing capacity of the territory, re-establishing the necessary balance to guarantee coexistence between this species and anthropogenic activities. We are perfectly aware that the debate on the "wolf question" is heavily contaminated by ideological positions that do not take into account the real needs of the territory.
Precisely for this reason we believe that the time has come to unite the forces of all the bearers of rural culture to make public opinion and institutions understand the importance of giving voice and support to the requests of those who exercise activities they represent from a social, economic, employment and environmental management point of view and a heritage of the territory that cannot be dispersed (Association for the defense and promotion of rural culture).
