Irene Galletti, regional councilor of the 5 Star Movement of Toscana, did not mince words to define the hunting situation in this region. According to Galletti, in fact, Tuscany must be considered "outlaw" in matters of hunting due to the wildlife plan that has expired for the past two years. The director recalled that in the absence of this plan, no advances or postponements of the hunting season, while the Region has done the same.
The only suggested way to solve the problem is to propose a new plan and get approval. Furthermore, Galletti has asked to suspend the hunting activity precisely for this paradoxical situation, which is why a motion will be presented. The advisor's intervention was focused on a very specific moment, the month of March 2016: for almost two years, in fact, there has been no government regulation on hunting in Tuscany, despite the compensation to damaged farmers and game harvesting.
The Regional Councilor for Agriculture, Marco Remaschi, however, explained that planning exists, while that of the regulatory vacuum is a falsehood. Remaschi recalled the extension of the provincial plans mentioned by Galletti e the new article that accompanied the one repealed in 2016. According to the commissioner, by the end of 2017 there will be a new wildlife plan with a brand new definition for the areas dedicated to wild boar.
