The Management Committee ofTerritorial Hunting Area of Lecce gave the green light to the monitoring and census (according to a containment plan) of magpies and foxes present in sample areas of the Apulian province. The intervention program will take place in territory intended for planned hunting and in compliance with the 2017-2018 hunting calendar. As for the magpie, the object of the study will be five representative sample areas of the provincial territory.
Instead, shifting the focus to fox, it must be said that the activities will include the four wildlife districts of the Lecce ATC, after having identified the sample areas within them to carry out the related studies. In both cases, however, the duration of the service supply contract will be three months, therefore, both the monitoring and the census are destined to end next March. Once all the data has been analyzed, a decision will be made on containment.
Furthermore, the same Management Committee has decided to approve the map of the wildlife vocation of the provincial territory for game species of hunting interest. In particular, the document will serve to identify specific areas in which to quantify the consistency and diffusion of the species in question.
