La rift on the boar brakes the common front of Umbrian hunting associations, which were ready to formulate the regional councilor Roberto Morroni his observations on the draft of the hunting calendar for the next season. In fact, in the last few hours, the Federcaccia slowed down on the document that had been signed by all the regional hunting associations (the same Federcaccia, Libera Caccia, Arci Caccia, Enalcaccia, Anuu, Italcaccia, Cpa) after the meeting held on the day Morroni communicated to the press the extraordinary measures to contain wild boars.
A meeting in which the associations had agreed on seven observations, regarding the pre-opening for the turtledove, wood pigeon, corvid and aquatic species and for the quail; to the hunting seasons for hare, female pheasant and fox; to the number of hunting days and at the time; the exceptions (in particular for starling, cormorant, pigeon, bullhorn, collared dove and finch); to the card and to the days for dog training activities. On the other hand, an agreement had not been found on the proposal put forward by the Councilor Morroni of postpone wild boar hunting for a month (i.e. from XNUMX November until the end of January) so as to align itself with the Marche, Lazio and Tuscany (with the exception of the province of Arezzo, where until now, as in Umbria, wild boar hunting began in October).
A measure that the commissioner Morroni has motivated with the need to avoid the migration of animals towards those territories where hunting is closed. In order to dismiss the document with the observations on the hunting calendar, the question of boar hunting had been postponed for the moment. But problems related to the hunting of ungulates then forced a new pause for reflection, so much so that the associations, on Friday morning, communicated to Councilor Morroni the need to have a few more days in order to be able to submit their own unitary observations.
The request to stop came from Federcaccia, which on Friday evening has a specific meeting to discuss the news that the Region intends to introduce on wild boar hunting. Changes that they intend to reduce the power of wild boar squads, or at least modify the selection activities they carry out on behalf of the Atc, given that the system seems to work only in the Foligno - Spoleto - Valnerina area. For example, by favoring the possibility of shooting farmers with hunting license. The wild boarists, in fact, have shown the councilor their opposition to some measures announced or planned. Morroni, also at the press conference, was clear: “We talk to everyone, but we compare ourselves with the institutional subjects". That is, the hunting associations, farmers, environmentalists and with the ATC. Those who sit in the wildlife-hunting council.
Morroni then reiterated the need to protect hunting (practiced for about 23 thousand Umbrians, including 10 thousand wild boar drivers) but in a harmonious way with respect to agricultural activities and in the protection of safety along the Umbrian roads. Because "particular interests cannot prevail over particular ones" he clarified. Hence the uprising of some leaders of wild boar squads, who are preparing a protest outside the Region for Monday morning. Some associations have already made it clear that they will not bring their flags to the streets, others are thinking about it. Federcaccia should make its decision at tonight's meeting, which promises to be fiery, with the wild boarers who ask to do battle (Still today).
