Venatorial Calendars: Veneto, Zanoni criticizes the revocation of the suspension previously decreed by the TAR on the 2012-2013 regional hunting calendar.
The animal rights MEP, Andrea Zanoni, criticizes the decision of the TAR of Veneto which revoked, following the request of the Region, the suspension of the Regional Hunting Calendar previously decreed by the President of the Administrative Court: according to Zanoni "the TAR has unclear ideas on the subject of hunting ".
On the matter, the MEP commented, "The Veneto Regional Administrative Court reversed a few days after deciding to stop the pre-opening of hunting and the training of hunting dogs, an activity in contrast with the directives of the ISPRA, Istituto state scientific technician. Thousands of wild animals threatened by drought are now at risk ”.
Continuing Zanoni explained, "With Decree 472, unheard of altera parte, the President of the TAR had suspended the parts of the Hunting Calendar relating to the pre-opening of hunting for the Merlo and Tortora species, in addition to the training and training of hunting dogs. . The appeal against the Veneto Region resolution no. 1130 of 12 June 2012 was presented by the Victims of the Hunt association. The president of the TAR had recognized the requirement of particular urgency, suspending the Hunting Calendar until the Council Chamber scheduled for 13 September ".
Continuing the explanation, the MEP affirms, “In the first instance, the pre-opening at the Merlo and Tortora and the training of hunting dogs were suspended from the third Sunday in August to the second in September. They are parties that differ, as stated in the motivation of the suspension decree, from the opinion of ISPRA, the Higher Institute for Research and Environmental Protection ”.
Finally, for the session in the Council Chamber of the Tar judges, the Hon. Zanoni hoped, “I hope that on 13 September the judges in the Council Chamber will be able to carefully evaluate the issue, because before the interests of individual hunters there is that of protecting wildlife. It is a heritage of all citizens, even those who do not have the license to kill ”.
Concluding Zanoni also criticized, “The suspension of dog training in a prolonged period of extreme drought, which has lasted since February, was a duty. Training large hunting dogs with many wild animals not yet adult and exhausted by heat and thirst is like shooting the red cross. This shows once again that hunters are totally insensitive to the conservation needs of wildlife, the heritage of all citizens ”.
