Dear hunter friends, the time has come again this year for our beloved birds of start the migration season. For several years now we have been involved in following and studying some species of aquatic birds during their migration to nesting sites and we consider it an important duty on the part of the hunting world, not only to defend us from external attacks that increasingly want to limit the periods of the hunting season, but above all to improve our knowledge and culture about the species we admire so much. Because of this ACMA even during this particular hunting season it did not stop and in collaboration with theUniversity of Pisa continued the study through the use of satellite transmitters of some aquatic species.
In particular, we were able to insert two new species, in addition to mallard, teal and snipe that we had already captured, namely the gadwall and the coot. In detail, we have captured and equipped 12 coots with satellite transmitter in three regions (Friuli-Venezia-Giulia, Veneto, Tuscany), 2 gadgets in Tuscany (which unfortunately do not broadcast due to technical problems) and 15 mallards between Veneto and Tuscany. None of these birds has started migrating for the time being and some will likely remain in Italy. They should if all goes well soon add some snipe to the list. We will keep you updated and let you know where to follow the migration in the near future. In the hope of a better near future, we all wish you good health.
