THEREAquatic Migrant Hunters Association (ACMA) has raised an alarm that has to do with the pochard. As stated in this SOS, it is the only hunted duck that is affected by a decline (in recent times) and that is likely to end up among the protected species at European level. The change of status, therefore, would also affect Italy. This is why the association needs help for continue to keep the animal huntable.
The invitation, in case of hunting in an area suitable for pochards, hunting diary or acquaintance with people with these characteristics, is to fill in and have them fill in the table that has been published online. Once all data has been written, the document must be sent to the e-mail address [email protected] no later than the next 25 March. The information will be treated anonymously and will help keep the pochard among the huntable species.
A similar initiative has already made it possible to keep another species, the lapwing, huntable. It only takes a few minutes to insert the province where the hunt took place, e-mail address or mobile phone number and the number of pochards killed in previous hunting years. Also important are the total hunting days, included those without culling, in addition to the average number of hunters for each hunting day.
