THETerritorial area of Biella hunting 1 has published a notice on its website to announce that the 90% threshold has been reached with regard to culling of male roe deer in district number one. Consequently, the objective has been achieved and the hunting activity must be considered closed for the remainder of the period. Two male roe deer remained at the end of June and both will be awarded in the next round.
Just a month ago, the province of Biella made people talk about hunting precisely because of the ungulate alarm. At the end of May, in fact, it was not only the wild boars that aroused concern, but also and above all the 450 roe deer recorded in the plains: it should be noted, however, that the calculated total represented just one third of the actual wild animals.
The numbers were disseminated by the Alpine District of the Piedmontese province: it is estimated that in the Biellese there were 2500 roe deer, most likely even more. According to the provisions of the Higher Institute for Environmental Protection and Research, however, it is possible to demolish 350 heads in the plains and another 230 in the mountain area, a total that has made us turn up our noses several times.
