La Veneto region has decided to confirm the ban on Ministry of Health for what concerns the use of live decoys (anseriformes and charadriformes) in hunting. The Regional Hunting Department has issued a new information note for the hunting associations, the Hunting Offices and the hunting surveillance commands. In short, it was reiterated that the ban will continue until next October 31st, as ordered at the end of December by the same Ministry to prevent the spread of avian flu.
Joseph Pan, regional councilor for hunting, explained how the ENPA volunteer agents (National Animal Protection Authority) have reported a case of non-compliance, confirming the functioning of the information chain promoted by the Veneto Region. The reports have to do with the Paduan area, to be precise near Lake Camazzole, episodes which were also discussed in a council question.
According to Pan, controls are timely and effective, even in the most peripheral sites, therefore anomalies and misconduct are excluded. The commissioner thanked the guards of the animal rights association and the other volunteer guards for the work done so far, an opening that will not please the regional hunting world anyway.
