The interest ofAMOV (Association of Hunting Ornithological Manifestations) was instrumental in solving the problem of bird fairs in province of Bergamo. THE cases of avian in Lombardy have made it necessary to suspend some festivals, but two historical events such as that of Almenno San Salvatore (13 August) e Sarnico (August 15) have been saved and will take place regularly.
The result hoped for by the Bergamo Federcaccia has arrived, given that the Region has decided to review the provisions of last 21 July, re-admitting the events that have as "protagonists" the ornamental and singing birds. Obviously, some health requirements must be respected. However, the authorization to carry out it does not concern the portions of the territory that are still subject to restrictions for thebird flu.
Which species are included in the ban? We are talking only about ornamental species, therefore we must not include those that are usually defined with the generic term of "poultry" (courtyard birds, farmed game, pigeons and doves eg). The two important Bergamasco fairs will be held on a regular basis, in full compliance with the biosecurity standards.
