Following the news published in recent days and then also circulated via social media, regarding the establishment of a new one "Park" in the area of the Montagnola Senese, between the municipalities of Monteriggioni, Sovicille and Casole D'Elsa, la Provincial CCT of Siena today met the municipal administration of Monteriggioni, which together with other municipalities promoted the initiative, to ask for clarification on the matter. Marco Radi, coordinator of the CCT Provincial Senese and Matteo De Chiara, a member of the same, met yesterday the Mayor of Monteriggioni Dr. Andra Frosini, the Deputy Mayor Paola Buti together with the councilors for culture and the environment Marco Valenti and Diana Nisi.
A meeting wanted to better deepen the terms of the proposal as well as their possible impact on hunting, in an area of extreme interest for the Valdelsa and beyond. A vast territory where almost all forms of hunting take place. From fixed stalking, to sedentary game hunting and selection and where numerous boar hunting teams also operate, also engaged in the control and containment of the species, also with a view to reducing damage to agricultural production. From here, the concern raised by numerous hunters, led the exponents of the provincial CCT of Siena to request this urgent meeting immediately planned with the full availability of the municipal administration.
The Mayor, together with the other members of the council, clarified that it is the intention of creating an area, that of the Montagnola Senese, where numerous aspects will be valued according to the development of knowledge of these places. From hiking to cycling, from enhancement of the natural heritage to the historical and rural area of a territory rich in history, culture and tradition; all this without, however, going to affect the hunting activity and control, therefore without formally establishing a park on the basis of law 394/91, but enhancing the SIC (Site of Community interest) already present for over twenty years.
"The hunters participate in the confrontation and management right from the start”Continued Frosini, confirming that in the coming months, with the actual start of the“ works ”, meetings will be held with the ATC and with the hunting associations. A precious contribution, the one recognized to hunters, who in many cases are the first maintainers of the forest and of the its riches, allowing with their management work, everyone to be able to enjoy the beauties of nature and a territory that is unique of its kind.
