Il hot weather of this summer is made even hotter by the comparison between opposing positions on the subject of Covid vaccinations and Green pass. It is neither the task nor the intention of the Italian Federation of Hunting express addresses on behalf of or towards its associates on this extremely personal and sensitive issue. However, we cannot fail to invite you to reflect carefully on the words spoken by the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella and in particular to his wish to make the sense of community and collective responsibility prevail for the common good.
“Freedom is an indispensable condition - said the President - but whoever limits our freedom today is the virus not the tools and rules to defeat him ”. Tools and rules that, however you think of them, affect us all as citizens. Last season the hunting activity was strongly penalized by the provisions concerning free movement and despite the efforts made, common sense has prevailed only in some regions to recognize that hunting by its very nature limits interpersonal contacts to a minimum and therefore the probability of contracting or transmitting the virus. There has been a lot of confusion, uncertainty and unequal treatment on the national territory and consequently the right irritation of the hunters.
But let's not forget the consequences on wildlife management and safety, which are put at risk by the multiplication without control of those invasive and problematic species which without hunting have reached alarming levels, reported daily by agricultural organizations, mayors, ATCs and managing bodies. For this reason Federcaccia immediately asks that in drawing up the lines of action and measures to deal with any recurrence of the virus in the autumn-winter season, the performance of the hunting activity - which recalls both individual aspects and of collective interest - is kept in maximum consideration and above all be done subject to a specific and unambiguous national regulation based on objective data. If a Green pass is to be, we believe that nothing is more "green" than spending days alone in nature, in the woods or in the mountains. If the hunter is also vaccinated, the doubt should not even be asked (Source: Hunting Federation).
