As is now well known, last December the Council of State has reduced hunting days as regards the Toscana and some species. In detail, these are the provisions:
- Merlo: hunting closure from 18 December 2018
- Hooded Crow, Jay, Magpie: hunting closes from 17 January 2019
- Teal, Garganey and Mallard: hunting closes from 17 January 2019
- Wood pigeon: hunting closes from 17 January 2019
- Woodcock: closing of the hunt from 11 January 2019
The Region therefore asked a further opinion to ISPRA (Higher Institute for Environmental Protection and Research), in order to arrange and reintegrate the various timelines.
According to the Councilor for Agriculture, Marco Remaschi, no response has yet been received despite the past month. In the absence of the opinion, it is impossible to approve a timetable with corrective actions in good time, restoring the original one, otherwise you could risk criminal consequences. Remaschi also added how the regional hunting calendar has been drawn up by updating the scientific data available, both at European and national level, a detail confirmed by a recent ruling by the TAR of Tuscany.
Hunting management is therefore sustainable for each species, including those that are subject to early closure. The commissioner concluded his statement as follows: "We therefore believe that what was ordered by the Council of State is a limitation of the legitimate rights of hunters, towards whom we show our solidarity, reiterating that the responsibility for what is happening is to be attributed solely to the judicial authority towards which, in these conditions, we have no possibility of intervening ".
