Yesterday, Tuesday 27 September 2016, it was held at European Parliament of Brussels the conference entitled "The economic value of hunting in the EU". The organization was managed by Renata Briano, vice president of the Intergroup Biodiversity, Hunting and Rurality and on his Facebook page you can read the conclusions of this event. Parliamentarians, industry representatives and delegates from community associations participated representing 7 million hunters.
It has been understood that sustainable hunting can move a continental economy worth 16 billion euros. It is about the figure that comes spent annually by hunters to secure licenses, rentals, dogs, travel and equipment. The contribution in question, however, also concerns the protection of nature and the territory, thanks to the fight against poaching and support for rural development.
There was also talk of the scientific research that is conducted on wildlife, catering and cooking related to game: these are all elements that generate jobs, so you can well understand the size of this economy. Hunting, however, cannot only be measured in monetary terms, but above all in terms of how eco-systemic service able to support rural communities, providing a serious alternative to sustainable development.
