We made a mistake last week. We had in fact written that in the text of the hunting calendar we had not found any trace of the harvesting periods of the woodcock. In reality, the collection of this piarist was regulated in the Decree of the Reductive Calendar, a document that, our fault, we had not yet examined. To deviate from the ISPRA opinion, which we recall, asks to end the woodcock harvest on December 31st despite our regional law and the national 157/92 scribe January 31st, the Region has provided a series of arguments in depth, including the study of satellite monitoring promoted for years by Federcaccia. The Decree, as we said above, is very well argued. Therefore, for the woodcock the Lombardy Region has provided for the collection from 18 September 2022 to 19 January 2023, and that in January 2023 the hunting of the species is allowed exclusively in the ATC and only on Saturday and Sunday, confirming the maximum daily bag of 2 heads per hunter. Admitting one's mistakes and making amends is not a sin but on the contrary it can become a virtue when this practice is used by everyone. But let's go ahead and below we also publish other limitations provided for by the Reductive Calendar Decree.
for the hunting season 2022-2023, the reduction of the levy is arranged for the species Wild dove (Streptotelia turtur), Tufted duck (Aythya fuligula) Pochard (Aythya ferina), Lapwing (Vanellus vanellus), Fighter (Calidris pugnax), Lark (Alauda arvensis) ), Quail (Coturnix coturnix), for the territory of regional competence pursuant to art. 2, paragraphs 1 and 1bis of Regional Law 26/93, as follows:
- the suspension of the sampling of the species wild turtledove, tufted duck, pochard, fighter and lapwing;
- for the Skylark, a withdrawal according to what is indicated in the options provided by the "National Skylark Management Plan" or:
hunting from 1 October 2022 to 31 December 2022;
maximum game bag per hunter equal to 10 daily and 50 seasonal animals;
killing outside the region of hunting residence must contribute to the total maximum game bag of 50 head foreseen seasonally for a hunter;
- for Quail, a maximum collection per hunter equal to 3 daily and 20 seasonal animals in the period between the third Sunday of September and 1 and 31 October 2022;
it is foreseen for the species: Snipe, Whisk, Moorhen, Coot, Water Rail, Mallard, Teal, Codone, Wigeon, Shoveler, Marzaiola, Gadwall, collection from the third Sunday of September 2022 to January 19 2023;
then it is expected:
- for the Codon species a daily and seasonal game bag not exceeding 5 and 25 head respectively per hunter;
- for the Blackbird species, the sampling between the third Sunday of September 2022 and 31 December 2022, with sampling in the month of September from a stakeout with 5 animals that can be killed per hunter per hunting day;
- for the song Thrush species, the sampling between the third Sunday of September 2022 and 31 December 2022;
- for the Redwing and Cesena species, the sampling between 1 October 2022 and 19 January 2023;
- for the Woodpecker species, the collection from 18 September 2022 to 19 January 2023, and that in January 2023 the hunting of the species is allowed only in the ATC and only on Saturdays and Sundays, confirming the maximum daily bag of 2 animals for hunter;
We have already commented on the 2022/2023 Hunting Calendar. There are too many "ifs" and too many "buts" to line up without talking about the "buts". The reasons behind our malaise are many: no sharing with the hunting world for the drafting of the calendar sent to Ispra, partial and in some ways questionable interpretation of last year's TAR rulings, a Regional Hunting Wildlife Plan not yet concluded, an entrenchment on reductive concepts for every form of withdrawal. Politics struggles to curb these attitudes in the offices, populated by militants from environmental associations, and struggles at every level, both in the Region and at the Ministry of the Environment and in Ispra. But in Federcaccia we believe that we can change, politics, the one with a capital "P" has already given some signals that if the will is there, nothing can resist it. This year we have to take the Calendar as it is, hoping that the TAR carefully evaluates the sure appeals of the usual associations which in our view have nothing to hold on to. Little consolation that of Lombard hunters. (Source FEDERCACCIA BRESCIA - CACCIAPENSIERI)
