The initiative of Federcaccia and ATC Salerno 1 continues concerning research on diseases transmitted to dogs by ticks, fleas and mosquitoes.
The research project of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the "Federico II" of Naples continues in various locations in the province of Salerno, which allows hunters the opportunity to test their dog for free for some infections transmitted by arthropods (ticks, fleas and mosquitoes) such as ehrlichiosis, anaplasmosis, borreliosis and filariasis.
The initiative - the only one of its kind - is promoted by the Salerno 1 hunting area, on the proposal of the provincial Federcaccia of Salerno, and includes meetings throughout the provincial territory to give hunters the opportunity to control their dog. , therefore, of an initiative of great utility for the hunting world as well as for the scientific world that will acquire data for new research.
"The project - says Guglielmo Storti, president of the Atc Salerno1 - aims to investigate, for the first time, the clinical and parasitological aspects of some infectious and parasitic diseases, which appear particularly dangerous since the symptoms are also shown at a distance of years. This is an important project that sees the use of rapid tests that allow the immediate detection of even more infections at the same time and the possibility of evaluating the spread of communicable diseases also to humans ". Scientific leaders of the project are university researchers Vincenzo Veneziano and Diego Piantedosi.
The meetings are scheduled, in this second phase, in the municipalities of Sarno, Nocera Superiore, Cava dei Tirreni, Mercato San Severino. Each hunter resident in the ATC, to participate in the initiative, must book by calling the ATC Salerno 1 secretariat.
