Several days ago the Regional Administrative Court of Tuscany accepted the appeal of the Anti-Vivisection League (LAV) against the fox control plan for the period 2016-2018. The document was designed to protect livestock farms and put a stop to damage from predation, but the judges decided to block it. There Confederation of Tuscan Hunters (CCT) intervened precisely on the issue, explaining the reasons for the appeal and acceptance.
According to the animal rights thesis, in fact, there would be no precise data and neither adequate scientific estimates to legitimize the decision to control the species. The opinion of ISPRA, then, considered acceptable only interventions in wildlife-hunting farms and in hunting areas of the Territorial Areas of Hunting, in addition to those in which game is introduced and in farms.
The CCT then recalled the reference of the TAR to the precedence that must be given to "Ecological methods" when preparing control plans. The hunting association has asked the Tuscany Region to intervene as soon as possible to safeguard the operations necessary to guarantee balanced management of fauna species.
