ANLC, the National Free Hunting Association of Siena expresses its criticisms on the issue of the containment of ungulates in the provincial territory.
The "politichese" is a language that is not suited to the variegated hunting world, which prefers direct, simple and easily understandable concepts. ”, Seeking“ parallel convergences ”before drawing up programs to be shared with strength and determination. I followed with interest, as a hunter, eagerly waiting for a program of points and objectives to be "embodied" in favor of containment management, a program that aimed straight at the recovery, even partial, of what hunters and farmers have been gradually stolen and relocated the Public Administration, in its effective role of legislative body, without invasions of the field, today too weepy. On the other hand, in 2013 I find myself still reading invitations in "politichese", seasoned with veiled reproaches given by administrations that are too "intimidated" to guarantee legal certainty.
I hear talk of "sustainable hunting" and citizens who understand its meaning, citizens-hunters who understand the value of rurality in a biodiversity shared with the farmer, who know how to be responsible and attentive to the values of local traditions and customs, concepts that can be shared which, however, give me the feeling that these are the one and only guiding spirit in the appeal to territorial management. A clear message that sounds like an ultimatum in defense of the agricultural sector: wild boars and other ungulates are too many, today's tools are not enough, and more incisive interventions are needed.
At risk there is not only the activity of thousands of farmers, who proudly carry on the excellence of Italian agri-food, but even the environmental balance of the whole territory due to the hydrogeological and forestry problems caused by the surplus of animals. It is the emblematic example of the unacceptable contradictions that occur, there is a need to recover realism and common sense. The events of the past days, from Grosseto to Siena, strongly imbued with animalist fundamentalism, risk causing paralysis of wildlife management in Tuscany. The risk is to have very serious consequences that would have a social impact of vast proportions and that not even public order interventions would be able to solve. “Unless the various animal-environmental groups want them to take charge of the management operations, starting with the control of the ungulates and the compensation for damage to the crops.
We hope that we will no longer have to witness events like this one, so exploited that the Sienese Legambiente itself, while seeking to mediate between the different positions, had forcefully distanced itself from those who try to disregard or boycott the current legislation with the sole purpose of obtaining the abolition of hunting and the paralysis of the territory.
