FACE (European Federation of Associations for Hunting and Conservation) and the European parliamentarian Remo Sernagiotto have managed to set up an interesting exhibition dedicated to traditional hunts at the EU Parliament in Brussels. Among the various exhibitions there are above all the hunting samples concerning the Mediterranean countries. The appointment attracted many visitors yesterday, Wednesday 2 May 2018, with the presence of officials and deputies.
France and Italy have provided two of the most valuable contributions in this sense. Images have been found on popular hunting traditions, primarily on hunting turdids and larks with live calls, without forgetting the withdrawal of the transfer with the rides, the hunt for lapwings with molds and much more. The presentation was entrusted to Alessio Borrello of FACE itself, who preceded Sernagiotto's report. The latter talked about how important the cultural value of hunting, to be maintained and modernized.
Other speeches were those of Michele Sorrenti, Isabelle Lemmens and David Scallan. Going into more detail of the other reports, Sorrenti referred to traditional hunts and to migratory birds, customs that bring cultural values to local communities. Scallan, on the other hand, recalled how the exceptions are essential to maintain more forms of hunting that are not allowed by the Birds Directive, making everything compatible with conservation.
