Il Court of Naples has acquitted two hunters residing in Ischia who had been accused of hunting in period of closed hunting. According to this sentence, weapons can also be carried during periods in which hunting silence is in force. It all started from a check carried out in 2015. Two police officers were carrying out some anti-poaching services on the island and noticed an off-road vehicle with two people on board.
According to their reconstruction they were going to the hunting area and two hours later shots were also heard. The identification made it possible to note the presence of two rifles, camouflage suits and cartridges of various calibers despite the closure of the activity. There were also two dogs in the vehicle. The motivation for the sentence was filed in the last few hours. According to the judge, in fact, the two hunters were acquitted because the fact does not exist.
In practice, both were in possession of a regular hunting license, and whoever holds it can carry weapons even during the prohibition period. There would therefore be no criminal offense. In short, the policemen would simply ascertain the presence of the rifles and their transport. The defendants allegedly claimed to having gone hunting, but these statements were not deemed relevant as trusted defenders were absent.
