Hunting and Migration: ANUU, a study on migratory birds explores the reasons that lead them to fly in a "V" formation; energy saving.
The study on why migratory birds such as Ibis, Anatidae and Cormorants adopt the beautiful “V” formation when they plow the skies in their migratory movements has recently been deepened. This study confirmed that the formation architecture has a more than justified cause: the vortices of air that develop from the flight of the preceding subject are exploited by the following subject, facilitating migration. The beautiful “V” formation is therefore also the most advantageous for flying since the animal consumes less energy and makes less effort, and this is also revealed by the recording of a lower heart rate. It is therefore the companion who, with its flapping of wings, generates vortices of air and allows energy savings which are a winning weapon in this long pilgrimage in the skies.
