The renewal activity of the Benevento Territorial Hunting Area continues, in compliance with the principles of participation and in particular in compliance with the rules of hunting ethics. On the afternoon of last February 19th, at the premises of the ATC headquarters, the management committee met to discuss further planning and programmatic activities. The plan for the capture and repopulation of hares from the fixed acclimatization enclosures that the ATC owns on loan for use in the Samnite territory has been defined. The number of hares to be captured and placed, to supplement the animals already entered in recent days, is 160 animals which will be distributed according to a plan that has been launched and approved by the management committee.
The catches as established, will be carried out and divided into areas in three different days, February 25th and 27th and March 4th: the program is available at the ATC headquarters as well as at the respective association offices making up the management committee. A public notice was also approved for the formation of the list of companies for the award of supplies, as required by current regulations.
Of particular importance was the definition and approval of the course for the qualification of wild boar selecontrol, in compliance with national and regional legislation: the notice of the course will be available at the ATC headquarters, with the respective registration forms. that the member associations will disseminate on a broad spectrum the modalities of participation in the course.
The selecontroller in general represents the role of a hunter with specific qualifications: among the main tasks is that of assisting the provincial hunting agents in all control interventions (mainly numerical) of those animal species, which for excessive protection or for optimal settlement in the territory, they are called intrusive. One of the animals that most often is subjected to selection hunting, and which is therefore the object of the attention of the selecontroller, is certainly the wild boar, whose excessive reproduction causes problems within the group, and external, especially aimed at agricultural activity.
Finally, in the same session of the management committee, the agreement scheme with the ENPA (National Animal Protection Authority) was approved, an association also responsible for controlling the phenomena of poaching, a phenomenon that unfortunately still exists today, whose the best wishes, as the whole committee unanimously shared, are to eradicate it definitively and above all with the utmost collaboration of the main players in the hunting world, the hunters.
