The hunting calendar developed by Calabria Region for the next 2018-2019 season. In particular, we highlight the three pre-opening days scheduled for 1 and 2 September a dove, wood pigeon, crow, jay and magpie, and on 9 September a wood pigeon, crow, jay and magpie, all from stalking only. For the species of greater hunting interest, the Regional Calendar provides for the sampling time for woodcock from 14 October to 20 January; for the hare from 16 September to 16 December; for the song thrush, the redwing and the cesena from 6 October to 31 January; for the lark from October 1st to December 31st; for the wood pigeon from 16 September to 31 December and then from 14 January to 10 February 2019.
"This is a balanced and sustainable hunting calendar, the result of the joint work of the coordination of the 7 Calabrian hunting associations (Federcaccia, Libera Caccia, Enalcaccia, Arci Caccia, Anuu, Italcaccia and Eps) and of the work carried out with participation and competence in the regional hunting fauna consultancy - said the regional president of the FIdC Giuseppe Giordano -. In particular, I underline the pre-opening to the turtle dove scheduled for the two days as suggested by Ispra for a species in difficulty at European level, maintained by the Region despite the attempt by the Minister of the Environment Costa to make it postpone.
A result certainly obtained thanks also to the arguments formulated in contrast to this ministerial position by the Federcaccia Migratory Birds Office. The same Office, through close collaboration with the regional Federcaccia, has also provided several arguments for the departure from the Ispra opinion incorporated in the accompanying report to the calendar. Now I just have to wish a heartfelt good luck to all Calabrian fans, recommending as always the maximum compliance with the laws, common sense and ethics that distinguish us as hunters ".
