Federcaccia: In Bocca al Lupo for the Opening of the 2010-2011 Hunting Season.
There are now a few hours to go until the hunting season opens. A day that despite for some time and for many between pre-openings and selection hunting no longer represents, in fact, the actual start of a new season, continues to be a particular and significant moment. Sunday, in fact, remains the "real" opening, the traditional one, with all its load of expectations and emotions; the day to find oneself with one's passion, to meet again friends and known and dear places, to try again those sensations that have always accompanied the hunting activity.
To all hunters, and with me the whole Italian Federation of Hunting, a warm "Good luck", so that this is a season full of unforgettable days, whether they are spent in the marshes or in the hut, with hare or wild boar, chasing woodcocks or pheasants, because whatever form of hunting they prefer, they all have and deserve equal importance and respect.
But they also deserve, and so the whole hunt, that those who dedicate themselves to it do so with a correct behavior, inspired by measure, awareness and those values which, codified by centuries of practice, constitute the moral code of every hunter. Prudence, education, respect for the environment that hosts us, almost always an expression of the work and effort of others, of the rules of civil life, as well as of those that regulate our activity, will be the best answer to what is claimed by our detractors. .
Deliberately omitting on this occasion any controversial consideration on the state of the reforms and how much there is still to be done so that ours too can become a modern country in the field of hunting, we want to conclude on a positive note that will allow us, if we will know how to do it, to proceed precisely on that path.
The results of the research that our Federation together with others and the CnCn has commissioned to Astra Ricerche and which in recent days has been resumed and relaunched, for once in an almost always correct way by many sources of information, have clearly shown, despite the attempts to overturn the data by the anti-huntsmen, that Italian society is not hostile to a serious hunt, far from extremism, regulated and inspired by scientific principles, and which has a largely positive opinion of hunters as such. But above all it has shown that the more Italians know us, the less they fall victim to misinformation and prejudice.
So, starting from this season, let's make sure that this knowledge grows and takes root even more firmly through our behaviors. The future of hunting also passes, indeed perhaps above all, from this.
Only in a more aware and better prepared social context towards us, in fact, will our effort be accepted to recover a discussion table with the institutions and all the interested categories to finally obtain the expected changes to a law now largely outdated, not renouncing the just demands of the hunting world for a hunt that, within a regulatory complex finally updated, also allows Italian hunters what is enjoyed, without scandals or hysteria, by their European colleagues.
But in the meantime, putting these thoughts aside for at least one day, let's get ready to serenely and consciously enjoy the beginning of this new season in the name of the truest passion. Still good luck
