The regional section of the Basilicata of Italian Federation of Hunting has organized in collaboration with the Region an interesting training course for limiere and turn dog handlers. The dates chosen by the Lucanian Federcaccia are three, namely from 19 to 21 May next, while the place is the provincial headquarters of the hunting association a Potenza (the exact address is Corso Garibaldi 157). In addition to the 15 hours of the theoretical part, there will also be a practical part, which will last five hours and will be held at the Training Area for Dogs type "C" in Campomaggiore.
There will be three teachers: we are talking about Antonio Zuffi, expert judge of the Italian National Dog-loving Body (ENCI), of Dr. Giuseppe Falconeri and of the wildlife technician Rocco Manfreda. Figures of this type are increasingly important in our country, especially in regions such as Basilicata. Examining the Lucanian chronicles of a few months ago, we find out how farmers were concerned about an ungulate emergency that could not be called finished.
The wildlife alarm has been sounding for years now, the animals are out of control and greater preparation and training of qualified persons it can only be one more solution. In the whole of Basilicata, 123 thousand wild boars were counted at the end of last year, or one for every 4,5 inhabitants, of which 23 thousand were killed (approximately one sixth therefore).
