Marco Efisio Pisanu, number one of Hunting Fishing Environment Sardinia, returned to talk about the 2018-2019 hunting calendar of the island. The text was approved a few days ago, even if there are some details that are not convincing. In particular, the association did not like the limits imposed on the fox hunting, given that there is a controversial ban on beat. Pisanu recalled that not even the Higher Institute for Environmental Protection and Research had hindered the taking of the species, while two associations were enough to eliminate this hunting opportunity.
Fox culls are considered fundamental. CPA Sardegna has emphasized the excessive number of foxes in Sardinian territory, without forgetting the risks associated with trichinellosis and the requests received from landowners and breeders. Meanwhile, the hunting calendar is likely to be challenged by the Regional Administrative Court.
WWF, LIPU and Italia Nostra have thought of a legal appeal due to the requests of the ISPRA that would have been disregarded en bloc. Already during the 2017-2018 season the Sardinian hunters had to deal with the prohibitions set for Sardinian hares and partridges, now it is hoped not to repeat the same script in the coming months.
