Tonight, Tuesday 19 July 2016, Lombard hunters will have the opportunity to confront and discuss with Stephen Maullu, MEP of Forza Italia-European People's Party and member of theIntergroup Biodiversity, Hunting and Rural Activities. The appointment was set at 20:30 a Concesio, in the province of Brescia, and hunting associations will also be present. What will we talk about specifically? The title of the meeting is "Europe and the world of hunting", given that the consequences of the revision of the European Weapons Directive.
This text has been causing discussion for some time and if it were approved as it has been formulated up to now, it would have negative implications for the hunting world. The fight against terrorism, in fact, provides - according to the community directive - the control of the circulation of weapons.
The intention of Brussels is to also confiscate and destroy weapons legally owned by honest citizens such as collectors, sport shooters and hunters. The real threat is actually represented by illegal weapons, so banning semi-automatic rifles would only be harmful and useless. During the meeting the best solutions will be sought, so that Europe knows what are the requests of hunters and hunting associations.
