THEUNCZA (National Union of Hunters in the Alps Area) - Circolo Prealpi Orobiche and the Alpine Districts of Bergamo have organized the fifth Provincial Review of Wildlife Hunting Management. The event born in 2012 will take place over three days, to be precise from 19 to 21 February next in the municipal gym of the Lombard city. The event also benefits from important sponsorships, namely that of Municipality of Piazzatorre, of the Province of Bergamo, of the Orobie Bergamasche Park, of the Pegherolo Piazzatorre Hunters Section and of the Bergamo Provincial Section of Track Dog Handlers.
The program includes a series of meetings, round tables and debates. In particular, the review will begin on Friday 19 February with the inauguration of the commission CIC (International Hunting Council), then continuing on Saturday 20 with the actual opening of the event and the meeting with the school groups of the area: in the afternoon, then, there will be a round table that will involve the hunting associations, called to discuss the topic “Rethink the framework law on hunting".
In this case, Sandro Flaim, national president of UNCZA, will participate as coordinator, as well as Franco Perco, director of the Sibillini Park, and Giacomo Nicolucci, author of the book that has the same title as the round table in question. Evening entertainment will be guaranteed by third day of "The five rings of Sparalungo", the scenic festival in a prologue and three days, to music by Richard Wagner and libretto and texts by Franco Perco. Sunday 21 February will instead be characterized by the presentation of the reports on current status of ungulate populations, without forgetting the report of the Track Dog Handlers Group.
In the afternoon, then, the review will end. The first edition of the event dates back to four years ago and in that case the chosen site was that of Bergamo. Among the first topics discussed are the management of ungulates in the province of Bergamo, a survey on the age of the roe deer in the Bergamo Prealpino Hunting Territorial Area, the possible coexistence between stray dogs and wildlife and the ISPRA census methods.
Over time, the review has been confirmed and has been enriched with contents. Last year, for example, the theme of the round table was that of hunting communication and the image of the hunter and there was no lack of tastings of typical local products (the headquarters were in Clusone, also in the province of Bergamo). In 2013, however, it was the turn of the conference dedicated to ibex management (managerial experiences, conservation and management of the Belviso Reserve).
