The ringing station of thePonza Island provided a new update on its activities: "The month of March ended with a storm and April started with a storm of its own. However, we have managed to ring around 3200 birds so far, which keeps us in line with the trends of the past years. Our activity continues undaunted, we are approaching the peak period for diversity of species caught in the ringing season.
Long-range migrants are becoming more common to our nets every day, and we catch new species for the current season with each passing day. They added to our list: Scops Owl (Otus scops), Nightjar (Caprimulgus europaeus), White Luì (Phylloscopus bonelli), Bigiarella (Sylvia curruca), Wagtail (Motacilla flava) and Regulus (Regulus regulus). We also ringed a Golden Oriole (Oriolus oriolus), which arrived at Ponza station with well a week earlier than last year"(Source: CISCA ONLUS).
