THETerritorial hunting area of Pistoia decided to enter i breeding pheasants in the Restocking and Capture Areas of the Tuscan province, a choice that was made to support the resident populations. This is an initiative that is fully part of the redevelopment path of the ZRC, institutes that represent one of the main priorities of the Pistoia ATC Management Committee. The process we are talking about began towards the end of 2014, when the management of the zones has been transferred from the Province to the Sector. The moment of these entries was experienced firsthand by Patrick Zipoli, number one of the “Minuta Game” Commission (which is part of the ATC). Wanting to be even more precise, the breeding pheasants have been destined for different Restocking and Capture Areas, namely that of Pistoia North-West, that of Vinacciano, Montale, Spicchio and Marzalla.
Furthermore, another detail should not be overlooked in this case, namely the transfer of a small group of animals also within the ZRC Santonova and in two enclosures that fall within the district for small game (number 1). The effective date of the release is that of last February 20 e 48 hours later, President Zipoli received the opinion of the heads of the institutes: according to their judgment, the quality of the pheasants that have been assigned can be defined as "very satisfactory".
Among the most widespread comments that have been heard, it is possible to mention adjectives such as "beautiful", "lively", "robust", and real opinions such as "excellent flying ability", "right weight" and "good development of the pectorals". The Territorial Hunting Area wanted to thank the various presidents of the Pistoia institutes and the volunteers who have worked for their management, hoping that the introduction is positive and there can be a good result. At the same time, it was also decided to place hares on the free territory: the animals in question belong to breeders who have an agreement with ATC Pistoia, but also come from the catches in the appropriate enclosures.
Therefore, for over a year they have been trying to manage sedentary fauna in the best possible way in this part of Tuscany and the results obtained so far are evaluated as excellent, even if it is still early to make a definitive balance. Just tomorrow, Thursday 25 February 2016, the volunteers of the Sector will leave for the Island of Pianosa to participate in the extraordinary plan to capture the hare which was organized byPark Authority of the Tuscan Archipelago. The plan is the next step following the test carried out on the island last December.
