"Lombardy region and the Nature Reserve Pian of Spain and Lago Mezzola - Province of Como - Province of Sondrio, sign the institutional collaboration protocol for the implementation of the deer population and of the newly formed wild boar population in the afferent territory. " This was stated by the undersecretary for relations with the Lombardy regional council Fabrizio Turba. Present at the meeting in addition to the Regional Councilor Fabio Rolfi and to Undersecretary Fabrizio Turba, the Presidents of the Province of Como - Fiorenzo Bongiasca, Province of Sondrio - Elio Moretti, the President of the Mountain Community Valli del Lario and Ceresio - Mauro Robba, the President of the Pian di Spagna Lake Mezzola Reserve - Roberto Vignarca, as well as their respective managers. The text of the institutional protocol consists of 10 articles and defines the commitments of the two provinces Como and Sondrio as collaboration in the implementation of the plan for the management and containment of deer and wild boar populations with the respective provincial police. The signed text, which refers to the two control plans, provides for the provision by the Reserve of specialized professional figures for the overall coordination of the actions in the field, such as dr Faunists, Agronomists and the veterinary supply chain, the activation of the training course and updating of the selecontrollers and resident farmers as well as the realization of the foreseen control structures and equipment. In addition, the economic recognition to the provinces in accordance with the established methods and within the budget available for the use of the surveillance systems which are required to commit themselves to effectively achieve the results envisaged by the containment plans. Of fundamental importance was the direct presence of the Lombardy region, which determines the supervisory action jointly with the Nature Reserve also with possible termination of the same protocol due to proven and undesirable non-fulfillment of the expected commitments. “This is excellent news - concludes Turba - thanks to this protocol it will be possible to stem and resolve the current faunal emergency situation caused by the excessive population of deer and wild boar in our territory, thus solving the hardships of our farmers and citizens ”.
