Negative updates for hunters
There is a last minute news regarding the hunting in Sicily and sadly this is not a positive update. The Regional Administrative Court of the island has formalized the suspension of the hunting of the wild dove throughout the month of October. The judges of the TAR have accepted the appeal of various animal rights and environmental associations that have lashed out against this part of the 2022-2023 calendar.
Who filed the appeal
The bodies that have obtained the sentence in their favor are ENPA (National Anomal Protection Authority), LAC (League for the Abolition of Hunting), Legambiente, LNDC (National Dog Defense League), LIPU (Italian Bird Protection League) and WWF. In their comment it was not even lacking the usual dig"Hunters can put their rifles aside for at least a month. New defeat for those who want to overturn the rules of hunting: after the previous judicial victories at the Tar and the Cga - which, as a precautionary measure, had immediately accepted the appeals of the environmental and animal welfare associations".
The reasons of the TAR
The decree of the Regional Administrative Court in fact rejected the opposition of various hunting acronyms, namely Sicilian Free Hunters, ANC, Union of Sicilian Hunting Associations Un.A.Ve.S., National Association of Free Hunting, Association of Hunting Sport and Nature, Italian Federation of Hunting-Regional Council of Sicily, Anuu Regional Committee - Association of Italian Migrationists for the Conservation of the Natural Environment, UN Enalcaccia. The reasons are instead the following: "The modification of the calendar is likely to cause damage that cannot be repaired in itself, and therefore it is not possible to wait for the celebration of the next chamber hearing.".
