“We take note with pleasure of the ruling of Regional Tar of Calabria on the appeal against last season's hunting calendar for various factors: first of all it was finally recognized the importance of the initiative taken primarily by Federcaccia in having taken charge of challenging as illegitimate because it is contrary to the law the provision of the Guidelines to obligatorily submit not only the wildlife plans, but also the hunting calendars to the environmental impact assessment, secondly, it was reiterated the validity of the arguments and studies to depart from the ISPRA opinion and the validity of the wildlife plan extended by law has been confirmed ".
Thus the National Vice President and Regional President Federcaccia Calabria Giuseppe Giordano commented on the news of the sentence pronounced on April 9 by the Regional Administrative Court for Calabria (Section One) on the 2020 appeal, supplemented by additional reasons, proposed by WWF and the Italian Bird Protection League - Lipu against the Calabria Region and ISPRA - Higher Institute for Environmental Protection and Research, as well as by Federcaccia itself. The sentence declares the appeal on two points inadmissible, having the Calabria Region fulfilled the provisions of the TAR in the precautionary stage (Vinca on the Sila Grande site and subtraction of the hunting period from the species allowed in pre-opening), while rejecting it on the seasons and huntable species, considering "not unreasonable" the arguments and studies present in the technical report attached to the Hunting Calendar 2020-2021 of the Region, also with regard to pochard and lapwing.
Furthermore, it suspends the judgment pending the definition of the appeal brought by Federcaccia Nazionale and by other national AVVs recognized before the Lazio TAR against the Guidelines that they submit to Vinca also the hunting calendars. “We are obviously very satisfied with the decision of the TAR and the role played by the Federation in Calabria, once again the only association to be established in practice and not only to be listed among the applicants, alongside the Region - continued Giordano -. I have to thank also on this occasion the lawyer Alberto Bruni of Florence who with his intervention was fundamental, together with the Regional Advocacy and the regional offices for the completeness of the technical report.
It is of great satisfaction to evaluate that it is the third consecutive time that the TAR considers the hunting seasons implemented in Calabria to be correct, from general opening on the third Sunday of September to closing on 31 January, at the closing of the quail on November 30th etc. etc., also thanks to studies and technical elements provided by the Federcaccia Research Office ". “Pending the pronouncement of Lazio Regional Administrative Court, I now renew to the Region the repeatedly presented recommendations to work hard and in close relationship with the hunting world to guarantee Calabrian hunters a 2021-2022 hunting season free from all those disturbances that they have wiped out the past season. An objective which this sentence also preludes. Federcaccia once again proved to be alongside the hunters with concrete facts, without wasting time in proclamations and shouts that only serve to stir the spirits without solving anything”, Concluded the Vice President Giordano.
