A beautiful sunny day was the setting for the interesting, as well as useful, initiative of a group of hunters. 130 linear meters of hedge were planted in the hills of Tavullia to contain hydrogeological risk and as a shelter and nourishment for birds during migration. A group of hunters from Gradara, Tavullia, Belvedere Fogliense and Cattolica they met on Sunday morning to plant 130 linear meters of small-berry seedlings, such as hawthorn, thanks to the contribution of the Region, in the person of Mirco Carloni. Danilo Mancini, owner of a farm, has made available the material and the experience “Because I strongly believe in this, hoping that there will be other similar initiatives”.
The positioning of the plants is strategic, as Mancini explains: "the hedge is placed between one land and another and there is an escarpment. It is fundamental for the hydrogeological discourse because when these plants become large they will take root and will be an excellent containment for landslides. Also they are small berry plants that they will be able to provide food for birds during migration, but also a shelter for animals such as pheasants or many other wild animals ".
In recent years, with the advent of agro-industry, small farms are disappearing and the woods are being swept away because the large mills they need surface to work. “This is the downfall, but not for us hunters, but for the territory. So it is a cultural problem ", comments Mancini who wants to clarify a concept:" We are not criminals or murderers. We hunters do these jobs for the good of nature and animals and we are the real environmentalists. This is the demonstration that we are first of all farmers and that we believe in the good of our territory "(Viverepesaro.it).
