Il Italian Hunting Union has made public its request for rectification and specifies that it has been requested from satirical news program "Striscia La Notizia", broadcast on Channel 5. The association refers to a service of the envoy Edward Stoppa in which there was talk of an alleged hunting accident. SVI is literally indignant at Stoppa's use of the television medium himself, whose smear campaign against Italian hunters continues to amaze in the negative.
The disputed stake is that of 4 November, when there was talk of a gesture committed by a hunter two years ago and punishable by justice, but not for this to be used as a pretext for condemn an entire category. Furthermore, the episode cited by Stoppa cannot even be considered a hunting accident, also because it was a voluntary gesture. The correspondent was also accused of not having explained the facts well and of having exploited the numbers, including deaths from illness among the accidents themselves.
The Union recalled the recent poll according to which 76% of Italians are not against hunting and how 24 referendums aimed at abolishing hunting have all been defeated. The voluntary shooting mentioned in Striscia La Notizia can only be condemned by the association, which has distanced itself from it, reiterating how is not an episode related to hunting. Defamation cannot be accepted and now the specification from the satirical news is expected within ten days.
