Fabio Rolfi, new councilor for Agriculture of the Lombardy region, responded to some criticisms that had been advanced by the minority of the Regional Council regarding the wild boar management. According to reports by Rolfi, the government's too centralist approach has influenced the application of the target law for ungulates. The challenge of the text before the Constitutional Court was an important obstacle, consequently the parties that today complain about the inactivity of the local authority are, according to the commissioner, the same ones that have hindered a tool that would have been useful to curb the emergency.
Another problem was represented by the rejection of the emenedamento of some regions for the streamlining of the control procedures of the wildlife, in particular through the operators qualified for this activity. Rolfi however assured that Lombardy is working on the preparation and adoption of the first two acts to divide the regional territory into suitable and unsuitable areas about the wild boar.
Zoning will allow control and killing to be carried out without problems, including through hunting. In the first days of May, then, there will be a technical document that will be used for gather information and discuss the problem. Finally, the Region is ready to promote the food chain of ungulate meat, so as to make what is now only a problematic a resource.
