The regional section of Marche of Italian Federation of Hunting announced the immediate suspension of hunting in Natura 2000 sites, Sites of Community Interest, Special Protection Areas and SACs. This is the order number 5165 of last October 22 with which the Council of State accepted the appeal of two associations, WWF and the League for the Abolition of Hunting (LAC).
The president of the association, Paolo Antognoni, criticized this blockade of hunting in the Marche region, also because the Region has always respected the laws which are currently in force, without forgetting the excellent functioning of the hunting calendar. The Council of State took this decision motivating it with the lack of a regional hunting ground plan approved.
The choice of the Marche association can only be one, as stated in the official press release released in these hours: “We will ask for an instance to fix the hearing at the Regional Administrative Court as soon as possible, which will have to express itself definitively on the matter. There is concern about the possibility that hunters can fall into error risking criminal consequences since the areas of the Natura 2000 network are not tabulated. The other concern is with farmers because this ruling is destructive to damage to agriculture". The ruling has definitely displaced, now further (and hopefully positive) developments are expected.
