La Objective Law on the containment of ungulates it is quite a recent novelty as regards the Toscana, therefore the requests for clarifications and explanations are more than understandable. In particular the Confederation of Tuscan Hunters, Federcaccia, ArciCaccia and Anuu Migrators of Massa Carrara they turned to Marco Remaschi, Regional Councilor for Agriculture, to make comments on the cartography of the areas chosen for wild boar hunting.
The associations have carefully examined the areas of the Tuscan province and have decided to ask for some changes for better and more punctual land management. According to all these entities, Tuscan cartography differs considerably from the definition of areas that are suitable for wild boar hunting in the province of Massa Carrara, at least as they are indicated in the reference wildlife-hunting plan.
The regional proposal is characterized by unsuitable areas in which in recent years many animals have been culled by boar hunting teams: in particular, the hunting associations have mentioned the wooded areas where the containment of the species has been a great commitment in the past. The smaller number of areas does not coincide with the objectives declared by the law, therefore there is a risk of obtaining results that are even contrary to containment actions. According to the Region, the non-suitable areas should be, among others, the areas of repopulation and capture, that of hunting respect, the damaged cultivated areas, those cultivated and potentially damaged and the wooded and bushy hamlets.
