This year, due to Covid restrictions, there will be no census of the noble deer 'to the roar', the powerful verse of the male deer in the mating season. An important event, that of the census, which has been held for several years at the end of September in National Park of the Casentinesi Forests, which also includes a large part of the Municipality of Bagno di Romagna. Those who wished to participate in that monitoring, directed by the experts of the National Park and other bodies will therefore have to wait. The natural area is located between the provinces of Forlì-Cesena, Arezzo and Florence and this activity was prepared in collaboration with theISPRA, the Carabinieri, the Tuscany Region, the Region Emilia Romagna and the Territorial Areas of Hunting of Arezzo and Forlì-Cesena. Normally the census takes place during the night.
Over time it has been open to enthusiasts from all over Italy who want to provide their contribution, supporting the experts in the census operations of male deer. There was also no lack of convivial moments, in order to facilitate the exchange of experiences and passion. In addition, training sessions were organized regarding the management of the animal.
At the end of the census, a network of people interested in collaborating on a voluntary basis will be created. Finally, as happened on other occasions, a wolf-howling session will be re-proposed on an experimental basis to monitor the packs of wolves found in this protected area of the Tuscan-Romagna Apennines.
